The Brampton Lions Club is the oldest service Club in the Brampton area. It was chartered on February 23, 1931 and celebrated 78 years of service in 2009. Its objective is to help local community groups and individuals in times of needs and it achieves these goals by holding fund raising social events in and around the community throughout the year.

It is one of 45,000 clubs associated with Lions Club International which was founded in 1917 and it is the world largest service club organization with nearly 1.35 million members in 200 countries and geographical areas. Worldwide, Lions Clubs are recognized for their services to the visually impaired not to mention their strong commitment to youth programs, improving the environment, building homes for the disabled, supporting diabetes education, conducting hearing programs and, through the foundation, providing disaster relief around the world.

Based on a recent report Lions Clubs world wide have been estimated to donate approximately $449 million (US) and 76 million man hours which is equivalent to 31,000 people working full time for one year.
